Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason says Kirby Smart not fooling him with Georgia QB question

Derek Mason thinks he has Kirby Smart figured out.

On Tuesday, the Vanderbilt coach addressed reporters and was asked whether he thinks Jacob Eason can start at quarterback for Georgia on Saturday when the Commodores and Bulldogs meet in Nashville. Mason isn’t buying the possibility of Eason starting, and as you can see below, he believes Jake Fromm will appear behind center for Georgia. On Monday, Smart declined to name a starting quarterback for the game.

The Fromm/Eason question has become a big one in Athens. Eason started the season, but he sprained a knee ligament in the Bulldogs’ season opener. Since then, Fromm has played well for Georgia, helping lead the Bulldogs to a 5-0 record.

Vanderbilt looks to be in a tough position, no matter who starts at quarterback for Georgia. The Bulldogs have a bunch of momentum after crushing Tennessee 41-0 last Saturday in Knoxville. Vanderbilt, meanwhile, has lost consecutive games against Alabama and Florida to drop to 3-2.

We’ll see if Mason is proven correct with his Fromm/Eason assumption.
