Virginia Tech Hokies defensive coordinator Bud Foster was ‘extremely impressed’ with Boston College OC Scot Loeffler

Two years ago, Bud Foster and Scot Loeffler were on the same staff at Virginia Tech. This Saturday, they will square off when the Hokies visit Chestnut Hill.

When talking about his upcoming opponent to reporters Tuesday afternoon, Foster said Loeffler’s personnel is more suited for his offense at Boston College than it ever was at Virginia Tech, but he didn’t mean it as a dig. Actually, Foster was quite complimentary of the former Hokies assistant.

“I was extremely impressed with him in his time here,” Foster said according to Mike Barber of The Richmond Times-Dispatch.

“Scott’s always been able to devise a plan that makes him competitive.”

It should be a great chess match Saturday night.

Loeffler ran the Virginia Tech offense and coached the quarterbacks from 2013-15, but he wasn’t brought back when head coach Justin Fuente was hired to replace Frank Beamer after the 2015 season. Loeffler then joined Boston College as offensive coordinator.

He also served as offensive coordinator for one season at both Temple and Auburn in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
