For the second straight week, a Notre Dame offensive player sustained a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit.
On Saturday against Miami (OH), Fighting Irish running back Tony Jones took a direct hit to his helmet from a defender’s head. It was such a big hit, there appears to be parts of Jones’ helmet flying off after contact.

There was no targeting penalty on the play because Jones was a “runner” and not a defenseless receiver. However, Jones did leave the game.
Last week, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly was fired up about a missed targeting foul referees should have called against Michigan State.
