KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee has always fancied itself among the top SEC schools when it comes to facilities, but the Vols are going through an embarrassingly lag that has reached a fever pitch.
Former coach Butch Jones is still featured on the back of the Neyland Stadium JumboTron, much to the chagrin of fans who loathe what the image represents.
Tennessee fan Tony Paul wrote and performed a song on Twitter about Jones’ image still being featured more than three months after he was fired on Nov. 12:
“Lord knows I’m a Tennessee fan, but there’s one thing that i don’t understand, why do we still have to keep looking at that face?
It’s been a hundred days since he’s been gone, and i think it’s about time that we move one. Because the Vols around here seen enough of ol’ Butch Jones.
So why he still on the JumboTron, just cover it because he don’t belong, tear it all down brick by brick if I see it again I’m gonna be sick.
It’s been a hundred days since he’s been gone, so why is he still on JumboTron?
We’re the Tennessee Vols, and we can’t go on if Butch Jones is still on the JumboTron.”

Jones delivered Tennessee three straight bowl wins for the first time in 20 years and a record-setting offense in 2016, but the 2017 season was disastrous and not what fans expected in his fifth year.
Tennessee’s first-ever 8-loss season — Ohio State is now the only college program not to have one — was filled with gut-wrenching, heart-breaking moments.
Jones has kept a low profile in the community and is probably just as eager to see his image removed from the scoreboard so he and his family can move on.
The Tennessee administration has cited an inability to get a crane to remove the image, and new athletic director Phillip Fulmer has been asked by fans to handle the situation.
Tennessee was recently ranked as the angriest, most hateful state in the country by WalletHub, and the Vols’ recent football woes and JumboTron issue isn’t helping.
