What Bill Self said after Baylor’s upset of Kansas

No. 10 Kansas dropped its second-straight Saturday game with an 80-64 loss to the Baylor Bears.

The loss to Baylor snapped a streak of 11-straight wins against the Bears. Devonte’ Graham scored 23 points to lead the way for the Jayhawks, while Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. led Baylor with 19 points.

Check out what Kansas head coach Bill Self had to say after the loss:

On Kansas’ offense against the Baylor zone

“They were better than us. We obviously weren’t prepared against their zone at all. We struggled in the first half, we were so tentative…we didn’t do a good job attacking it at all.”

“We shot it miserably. But give them credit, they deserved to win the game. We’ve got to get better, fast.”

On the state of the Jayhawks’ team

On Svi Mykhailiuk only scoring 1 point

“Svi was messed up today…he shied away from all contact because of his eye. That’s not an excuse, but that didn’t help matters.”

The struggles with 3-point shooting

“There was a time when Svi and Malik (Newman) and Lagerald (Vick) were shooting about 44% from the 3-point line. They were 2-of-19 today and that’s not very good.”

Overall reaction to the game

“Nothing went right today it seemed like. That’s what happens when you go on the road and play somebody turned up to play you.”

On a wild day of the Big 12 that included losses by Oklahoma and West Virginia

“This league is weird. Baylor is an NCAA Tournament team for sure…this league is unbelievable. Certainly there’s no great teams, there’s 10 good ones. We don’t have the margin of error for everybody not to be good and tuned in.”
