What Dave Doeren said after NC State’s win over Syracuse

North Carolina State had no problem in keeping their emotional level up after a big road win over Florida State last Saturday. This weekend, the Wolfpack came out and put together another solid team performance in a 33-25 win over Syracuse. This victory improved NC State’s record in the ACC to 2-0 for the first time since 2006.

Here is what North Carolina coach Dave Doeren said afterward:

Dakwa Nichols’ leg injury: “Nichols is done for the season, he will have surgery tomorrow. I’m not sure of the extent of the injury at this time. It’s sad because he was playing well on special teams, which was gaining him added touches on the offense. ”

Overall offensive play: “Great first half, terrible third quarter and we rebounded nicely in the fourth. Our running game (250 yards total rushing yards) controlled their defense in the first half by knocking them off the line of scrimmage. However, we did a terrible rushing the football in the third quarter. Just looking forward to playing Louisville next week.

Chipping play with Syracuse: “I don’t know what was being said on the field. I will talk with my players tomorrow to get a better understanding of the events. We can’t allow our opponents to control our emotions by what they say or by their actions on the field. Our seniors have a chance to identify their legacy, and they did that today.”
