The USC Trojans lost 30-27 at Washington State on Friday night in Pullman, Wash., their first loss of the season and first since last September.
Coach Clay Helton’s team led 17-10 midway through the second quarter but never led in the second half, allowing the game-winning field goal with 1:40 left before quarterback Sam Darnold lost a fumble two plays later.
The loss could have a major impact on USC’s playoff chances, since it wouldn’t get to face defending Pac-12 champion Washington unless the teams met in the conference title game in December.
Stay tuned for comments from Helton’s postgame press conference.
