Wisconsin football and basketball are always the main topics in Bucky’s Breakfast, Land of 10’s daily Badgers notebook — but we cover news, notes and analysis across Badgers sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Wisconsin football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Wisconsin rises in the AP Poll

The Badgers beat Northwestern in a game where they didn’t play their best, but voters in the AP Top 25 didn’t hold it against them. Not only did Wisconsin not move down in the poll, coach Paul Chryst’s team actually moved up one spot to No. 9.

As for our Land of 10 Power Poll, the Badgers held steady, coming in at No. 4.

Wisconsin big favorite against Nebraska

The Badgers are 12.5-point favorites in their game against Nebraska on Saturday, the first time since 2008 that the Huskers have been double-digit underdogs in a home game. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jeff Potrykus has an early look at the matchup that features the only Big Ten West teams still unbeaten in conference play.

Donte Burton commits

Wisconsin added to its 2018 recruiting class on Sunday, getting a commitment from 3-star cornerback Donte Burton. The Badgers now have 19 commits in the class.

12-0 still on the table for Wisconsin

Though they had an up-and-down performance against Northwestern on Saturday, the Badgers’ chances of going 12-0 and crashing the College Football Playoff are still very much alive, writes Sean Keeler, who looks at Wisconsin’s bowl projections.

D’Cota Dixon honored

Junior D’Cota Dixon had the game-sealing safety against the Wildcats on Saturday, but it was just the cherry on top of a game that led to him being named the Walter Camp National FBS Defensive Player of the Week.

Lack of offensive consistency a concern for Wisconsin

The Badgers are 4-0 and averaging 40.8 points per game, but the lack of consistency from one half to the next on offense is a concern that Wisconsin is battling to find an answer to, writes Jesse Temple.

Natrell Jamerson shows his versatility

One of the fastest and strongest players on the team, Natrell Jamerson can do a little bit of everything for the Badgers. On Saturday against Northwestern, the senior safety did just that, per Jason Galloway of the Wisconsin State Journal.

Men’s hockey starts the season strong

Wisconsin carried its strong finish from last year into its season opener on Sunday, getting a 3-2 win against Michigan Tech at the Kohl Center. UWBadgers.com has more on coach Tony Granato’s team earning a win in its opener for just the second time in 10 years.
