Adding a 3-star dual-threat quarterback to a team’s recruiting class can only be seen as a win.

On Saturday, Rutgers did just that, adding Zamar Wise to its 2019 class. Wise is ranked by 247Sports Composite rankings as the No. 11-ranked dual-threat QB in his class and is the No. 9 player in the state of New Jersey.

Wise, of Newark, N.J., is a 6-foot-2 signal caller who can get it done with both his arm and his legs. Wise took an unofficial visit to Rutgers on Sept. 16 and apparently liked the visit enough to give a verbal commitment two weeks later.

No matter who is making a certain prediction, it can turn out to be either right or wrong. For 247Sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions, both had Wise choosing Miami (FL), giving him a 100 percent chance of joining the Hurricanes.

Wise is now Rutgers’ first commitment for the 2019 class, giving the Scarlet Knights an early No. 6-ranked class in the Big Ten. Nine teams so far from the Big Ten have received verbal commitments from at least one player for the 2019 class .
