The Dayton Flyers will open the 2016-17 men’s basketball season against Austin Peay State University on Nov. 11 at UD Arena.
The game was confirmed in a letter sent to season-ticket holders this week. According to the letter, there will be 17 home games. Nine of those will be Atlantic 10 Conference games against La Salle, George Mason, Richmond, Saint Joseph’s, Duquesne, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis, and VCU.

Dayton will play Vanderbilt at home on Dec. 21. Dayton will also play Virginia Military Institute on Dec. 23. That game was confirmed when VMI announced its schedule. The remaining five home games are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Austin Peay, located in Clarksville, Tenn., finished 18-18 last season. It ranked 189th in the RPI. Its coach, Dave Loos, is entering his 30th season. He’s 69 and had a malignant tumor removed earlier this month and will undergo chemotherapy treatment.
Dayton has played the Governors three times, winning 101-94 in 1991, 76-61 in 2001 and 78-62 in 2006. All the games were at UD Arena.
