The Dayton Flyers will play three games at Day Air Ballpark, the home of the Dayton Dragons, this spring.

The Dragons announced Tuesday these three matchups: Dayton vs. Ohio State on April 12; Dayton vs. Virginia Commonwealth on April 29; and Dayton vs. Richmond on May 13. All three games will start at 7 p.m.

“We are all very excited to be returning to Day Air Ballpark for three games this year,” Dayton coach Jayson King said in a press release. “The atmosphere in that ballpark is very special which makes it an enjoyable event for everyone in attendance. We are looking forward to some incredible crowds on these three dates!”

Dayton opened the 2022 season on Friday with an 8-4 victory against North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. The teams played again Saturday and Sunday with Dayton winning 9-7 and 4-3.

The Flyers scored all their runs in the fourth inning to win the first game. They overcame six errors to win the second game.

On Sunday, they scored four runs in the last two innings to rally from a 3-0 deficit. A pinch-hit single by freshman Matthew Maloney scored senior Jay Curtis with the go-ahead run in the ninth.

Junior second baseman Ben Jones led the offense. He went 6-for-12 with five RBIs. Junior third baseman Keagan Calero went 4-for-10 with four runs scored.

Senior Bryce Hellgeth made two relief appearances and threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Redshirt freshman Chris Peguero started and allowed one earned run in 5 1/3 innings Sunday.
