Dragons fall to 0-2 with loss at Bowling Green

One thing we’ve learned about the Dayton Dragons in their first two games, they certainly don’t quit when they dig an early hole.

For the second time in as many games, Dayton (0-2) fell behind at Bowling Green (2-0) Friday night, but unlike the season opener on Thursday night, the visitors never could rally for the lead. The Hot Rods roll to an 8-4 win.

Dayton starting pitcher Mac Sceroler grabbed the early momentum when he struck out the first two hitters he faced, but then served up a solo home run to Taylor Walls for a 1-0 Bowling Green lead.

The Hot Rods added another run in the second and then three more in the fourth inning before the Dragons started digging out of a 5-0 hole.

Catcher Hendrik Clementina got the visitors on the board with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Dayton added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings before the home team scored three times in the seventh to break open a close game and grab an 8-3 lead.

Stuart Fairchild drove in the Dragons final run with a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning, but it was too little to avoid a two-game, season-opening sweep.

The two teams will head to Dayton for a pair of games at Fifth Third Field this weekend. The Dragons home opener is set for Saturday night at 7.
