Football recruiting: Springfield’s Moses Douglass announces college choice

The University of Kentucky is the next stop for Moses Douglass.

A four-star junior defensive back prospect at Springfield, Douglass announced his decision Saturday afternoon on Twitter.

Douglass was second among Wildcats with 65 tackles last season, and the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder projects as a safety or nickel in college.

He is the No. 9 player in Ohio for 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He trails only Lakota West defensive lineman Steve Faucheux among Cox Media Group Ohio area prospects in the rankings.

Douglass had more than 30 scholarship offers but plans to follow in the footsteps of his father, Maurice, who played defensive back at Kentucky before spending 11 seasons in the NFL.

Maurice Douglass is also the football coach at Springfield, where more than a dozen members of the current senior class earned football scholarships.

At least five Springfield juniors already have Division I offers: Moses Douglass, receiver/running back Michael Brown-Stephens (Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Kent State), two-way lineman Isaiah Gibson (double-digits, including including Maryland, West Virginia, Purdue, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Louisville), linebacker/running back CJ McDavid (Bowling Green) and defensive back RaHeim Moss (Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Bowling Green and Cincinnati).

Moss, who led the Springfield basketball team in scoring this season, is also a basketball prospect.

He received his first Division I basketball offer this past week. It came from Cincinnati.
