The Purcell Marian and Roger Bacon football porgrams are leaving the Greater Catholic League Coed and joining the Miami Valley Conference,
according to a report by our news partners at WCPO.com
The schools are expected to begin play in the MVC for the 2019 season. Purcell and Roger Bacon will continue play in the GCL Coed in all other sports.
the MVC voted against offering both schools full membership
, instead offering associate memberships in football only.
Purcell and Roger Bacon officials
told the Journal-News
that competitiveness (particularly in football) and travel (road trips from Cincinnati to Hamilton, Middletown and Dayton) were huge factors in seeking a new conference. Bacon and Purcell haven’t had winning league records in football since 2010 and 2000, respectively.
