NFL mock drafts (10/03/2017)

As the NFL season heads into its second month, mock drafts are beginning to look a little like what we may see come 2018 (at least in terms of draft order). Surprises in September, both good and bad, are defining how the draft will fall come April.

The most glaring example of this is the AFC East. New York Jets were picked by many to tank and go after the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, while the New England Patriots expected to once again contend for — and perhaps win — another Super Bowl again. Heck, there was even preseason talk of a potential perfect season.

The reality? The Patriots and Jets are tied at 2-2.

Clearly, early predictions can’t always hit. It’s still more likely that the Jets end up in the top of the draft and the Patriots in the bottom. But neither team seems to fit the projected mold. Meanwhile, it’s the New York Giants who are sitting at 0-4. The only undefeated team in the entire league is the Kansas City Chiefs, and they play in perhaps the hardest division in football.

With all that in mind, here are a pair of mock draft that show how things may unfold.
