Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden has a long history of success against Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
Haden, who spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, has played 12 career games against Flacco and the Ravens. In those 12 games, the former Florida Gator has intercepted Flacco five times (via Dave Bryan of SteelersDepot.com).
“If current Oakland Raiders safety Reggie Nelson is currently considered to be kryptonite for Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, then Haden is indeed Flacco’s as he has intercepted the Ravens quarterback more than any other player has,” Bryan wrote. “Last season, Haden intercepted Flacco three times in the two games the Browns played against the Ravens.”
Haden, who was surprisingly cut by the Browns during training camp, hasn’t been great in his three games with Pittsburgh in 2017. Pro Football Focus has Haden with an overall grade of 51.6 for the season, which ranks 69th in the league among cornerbacks with enough defensive snaps to qualify.
To be fair, Haden is still settling in with the Steelers after signing with the team less than two weeks before their first game. He had to learn a completely new defensive scheme, and is still developing a rapport with his new teammates – neither of which are easy tasks. As he gets more comfortable, the two-time Pro Bowl selection should settle in nicely just in the Steelers’ secondary in time for a potential postseason run.
The Steelers will face the Ravens on the road on Sunday afternoon with first place in the AFC North on the line.
