The following is a brief high school football preseason preview.

High school: Minster Wildcats

Division / region: D-VI, Region 22

League / conference: Midwest Athletic Conference

Head coach: Geron Stokes; second season with Wildcats; 6-4 record; previously Urbana’s head coach for four seasons.

Assistant coaches: Bret Buchanan, Josh Colbert, Byron Albers, Brian Sextro, Jason Hagaman, Dustin Dobie, Eric Ranly and Brian Wuebker.

2013 record: 6-2 MAC; 6-4 overall.

2013 highlights / notable achievements: Remained in playoff contention by overcoming Week 1-2 non-league losses to Fort Loramie and Lehman Catholic and beating Anna, Parkway, Fort Recovery and Versailles (28-21 in two OTs) from Weeks 5-9. Was knocked out of contention with season-ending 35-28 shootout loss to Delphos St. John’s, which advanced to the state semifinals. Played four playoff teams. MAC schedule rotation is extreme. New Bremen (0-10) has been replaced by three-time defending state champion Marion Local (15-0) in Week 4.
