Greenville’s defeat of Centerville highlights Thursday’s prep action

Greenville snapped Centerville’s 16-game win streak with a 2-1 victory on Thursday.

The Green Wave (15-2) settled for two hits. They were enough as Brionna Greer and Ally Russell each hit inside-the-park home runs. Centerville’s lone run came on an RBI triple from Ashley Sharpe in the fourth inning.

Russell struck out 7 for her 15th win. Mollie Paulick struck out 9, but suffered the loss.

West Carrollton 6, Franklin 4: The Pirates (5-9) broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth. Freshman Makayla Woody tripled with two outs in the inning. Madison Mills followed suit with an RBI triple to give West Carrollton the lead. Melena Smith's run-scoring single added insurance in the bottom of the sixth.

Oakwood 12, Northridge 8: Elizabeth Rogers belted a three-run home run in an 8-run fourth inning for Oakwood (2-10).

Kenton Ridge 10, Urbana 0: Courtney Lopez moves to 13-1 with the shutout for Kenton Ridge (15-1). Lopez and Carlie Castiaux each had three hits.

Russia 6, Jackson Center 3, 8 inn.: Emily Fairchild smacked a two-run single in the top of the eighth to give Russia (4-6) the win on the road. Maddie Borchers got the complete game victory, striking out seven.

Northmont 11, Celina 1: Amanda Rose picked up her 12th win as the T-Bolts (14-4) won their seventh straight game. Shelby Stephens, Kirsten Pullins, and Ashley Trottier each had 2 RBIs.

Greenon 4, Tecumseh 2: Tori Crichley went 3-for-4 and had 4 RBIs for Greenon. The Knights (5-11) scored two runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

Vandalia Butler 7, Piqua 1: The Aviators (3-13) pounded out six hits and scored six runs in the third inning. Sydney Wilson earned the win. Sophomores Katy Mosses and Hanna Fisher each had a pair of RBIs for Butler.

Northeastern 7, Xenia 4: Spencer Byerly went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs to lead the Jets. Kaitlyn Moore struck out 8 to earn the win. Xenia was led by freshman Sage Turner, who homered and drove in three runs.

Northwestern 8, Tippecanoe 0: The Warriors (13-2) won their 8th straight game and recorded their sixth shutout. Brittany Hart struck out 14 and moved to 8-1 with the win. Freshman Abby Zerkle doubled and had 3 RBIs. Tipp's Brianna Eichbaum struck out 11 in the loss.

Baseball

Lebanon 10, Piqua 0: Sophomore Tyler Duvall had four hits, including three doubles, and drove in four runs as Lebanon blanked Piqua at Fifth Third Field in Dayton. Christian Steele chipped in 3 RBIs. Chris Dimitriou earned the win for the Warriors (10-5).

Waynesville 7, Chaminade Julienne 2: The Spartans (13-2) held a 3-2 lead into the fifth before putting up four runs to pull away with the road win. Trevor Daniels picked up his first win and Elijah Bennett secured the save. Bryce Linkous and Troy Black recorded three hits for Waynesville, and Wyatt Meyers tripled and drove in three runs.

Fort Loramie 12, Covington 5: Fort Loramie used an 8-run fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Grant Olberding doubled and drove in three runs for the Redskins (7-6). Covington was led by Justin Williams, who doubled and homered and had 4 RBIs.

Tippecanoe 8, Northwestern 1: Tipp (15-1) made it 11 straight wins with the victory at home. BJ Donathan had 2 RBIs and Logan Dawes got the win.

Beavercreek 3, Fairborn 2: Nick Massey drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Beavercreek improves to 11-3, while Fairborn evens its record at 7-7.

Russia 18, Jackson Center 3: Nolan Francis had 3 RBIs and Cole McEldowney and Drew Sherman each drove in two for Russia (10-3).

Kenton Ridge 8, Urbana 1: The Cougars (9-8) jumped out with a five-run second inning. Justin Haerr doubled and had 3 RBIs, and Will Lawson added three hits for KentoN Ridge. Hunter Quick went 2-for-4 with a double to lead Urbana (5-9).

Anna 13, Fairlawn 1: Wes Showalter tossed a complete game one-hitter for Anna (10-2). Fairlawn's Ross Covault broke up the no-hit bid with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Luke Albers went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs scored, and 2 RBIs for the Rockets.

Springfield Shawnee 5, Graham 1: Seth Gray scattered five hits and struck out six to lead the Braves.

Bellbrook 7, Milton-Union 1: Bellbrook (14-4) piled on six runs in the fourth inning, as the Golden Eagles have now won 12 of their last 13 contests.
