Xenia’s Harris hits buzzer-beater, defeats Tecumseh

The Xenia boys basketball team knocked off Tecumseh on Tuesday night 66-63 on a buzzer-beater.

Buccaneer senior Khiyani Harris poured in a career-high 27 points including a three-quarter court heave as time expired. With the score tied and 2.8 seconds left, Harris secured the rebound off of a missed Arrows’ free throw and launched the desperation 3-pointer.

Brent Bauer added 14 points and Jevon Johnson had 12 for Xenia (16-4), which has won eight straight home games since its season-opening loss at home to Hamilton.

The Bucs host Fairborn on Friday for a chance to lock up the Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division title with a victory.

Beavercreek 43, Bellbrook 38, OT: Beavercreek trailed 18-8 after the first quarter before holding the Eagles to 19 points over the next three periods. The Beavers (6-15) held Bellbrook to one point in overtime. Jackson Back led Beavercreek with 15 points. Landon Singletary, Casey Demko, and Chris Bennett each had 10 points for the Eagles (9-12).

Carroll 60, Valley View 30: The Patriots (16-5) won their fifth straight game. David Ivey led Carroll with 20 points.

Eaton 50, National Trail 48: Trace Couch's layup with three seconds left gave Eaton the win on the road. Michael Bane led National Trail with 20 points.

Fairborn 57, Belmont 54: Jordan Pumroy paced the Skyhawks (13-8) with 22 points.

Greeneview 56, West Liberty-Salem 50: Austin Slone scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half to lead the Rams. Austin Miller finished with 18 points for the Tigers.

Greenon 69, Northeastern 57: Greenon (10-11) jumped to a 19-8 advantage in the first quarter. Jacob Whetsel led the Knights with 21 points. Troy Clay had 26 to lead Northeastern.

Milton-Union 62, Newton 50: Milton-Union overcame a five-point halftime deficit. Newton's Brady McBride sank eight 3-pointers to finish with 28 points.

Monroe 41, Madison 31: Ethan Jeffers led the Hornets (8-13) with 18 points.

New Bremen 69, Fort Jennings 48: Deion Hoehne tallied 12 points for New Bremen (12-8).

Northmont 62, Miamisburg 40: Jaysen Peoples scored 15 and Ben Mangen added 13 for Northmont (10-11). Adam Giles led Miamisburg (8-13) with a game-high 23 points.

Southeastern 62, Kenton Ridge 58, OT: Jake Bertemes poured in 30 points for Southeastern (12-9).

St. Marys 67, Minster 50: The Roughriders were 24-for-24 from the free throw line. Matthew Trushaw led Minster with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

Troy 58, Miami East 55: Tre Hudson tallied 15 points as the Trojans handed Miami East just its third loss. Damien Mackesy led the Vikings (17-3) with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Vandalia Butler 53, Tippecanoe 52: The Aviators' 19-game losing streak came to a halt as Adam Ney and Nnaemeka Anene combined for 34 points. Nathan Shirley had a game-high 25 for Tipp.

West Carrollton 72, Oakwood 60: The Pirates (4-17) snapped a 10-game losing streak as four players scored in double digits, led by Alex Craig with 17 points. Oakwood senior Stefan Stropki finished with a career-best 30 points.

Yellow Springs 52, Miami Valley 47: With Yellow Springs trailing by one point with 20 seconds remaining, Jared Scarfpin drained a 3-pointer to put the Bulldogs (16-5) ahead for good. Cameron Miles led Yellow Springs with 16 points and Kaner Butler finished with 14.
