An Ohio State Buckeyes lineup full of new starters will have one more, at least in week one.
Coach Urban Meyer said Monday fifth-year senior Tyler Durbin will start at placekicker and handle kickoff duties Saturday when Ohio State opens the season at noon against Bowling Green at Ohio Stadium.
Durbin walked onto the team in the spring of 2015. This is his second season of competitive football. He played soccer for two seasons at James Madison University. He’s a native of Fairfax, Va., and is married to Kristin Reitzel, of Dayton.
The returning starter, junior Sean Nuernberger, is dealing with an injury, Meyer said. He was seen on crutches at practice last week. He made 13 of 20 field goals last season and 21 of 23 extra points.
