Middletown native Edwards returning for senior season at Purdue

Former Middletown High School standout Vince Edwards is staying at Purdue for his senior season.

Edwards announced his decisi on via his Twitter p age and the school confirmed it in a press release. Teammate Caleb Swanigan will remain in the NBA Draft.

“Vince has the potential to be one of the best players in the Big Ten,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said. “He is one of the most-versatile players in the country and will use what he learned from this process to improve in all phases of his game.”

Edwards, a 6-foot-8 senior, averaged 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists as a junior. He shot 42.3 percent from the floor and 82.0 percent from the free-throw line.

He’s one of two players in Purdue history to have reached the 1,000-point, 500-rebound, 300-assist club.
