Minster defeats Franklin Monroe in Flyin’ debut for both teams

Mike Ketner scored 21 points to lead a balanced offense as Minster defeated Franklin Monroe 74-58 in the Wildcats’ Premier Health Flyin’ to the Hoop debut at Fairmont’s Trent Arena on Monday.

It was the first of six games in the final day of Flyin’.

Isaac Schmiesing hit three 3-pointers and added 16 points and Adam Knapke also hit three 3-pointers and was good for 11 points for Minster (7-2), which is in contention for a Midwest Athletic Conference title. Minster was 10 of 18 in 3-pointers (55.6 percent).

Franklin Monroe (9-5), out of the Cross County Conference, also was making its Flyin’ debut. Junior Ethan Conley converted 12 of 13 free throws and scored a career-high 35 points to go with nine rebounds.

“Minster did what Minster does,” Jets coach Troy Myers said. “They out-toughed us.”
