Dayton Flyers women’s basketball coach Shauna Green hired a new assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with a memorable name: Calamity McEntire. She’s the niece of country music star Reba McEntire.
"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Calamity to our staff," Green said in a press release. "She brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record as a recruiter. Her knowledge, work ethic and energy will be felt immediately. We are very excited to have Calamity join our Flyer family."

McEntire spent last season at the University of Hawaii and the four seasons before that at Arizona. She previously coached at Boise State, UC Santa Barbara and Fresno State. She’s a native of Kiowa, Okla.
As for her famous aunt, McEntire told HawaiiWarriorWorld.com in 2016 they are close.
“She is someone I admire and look up to, not so much in her success, but how she went about it and how she treats people,” McEntire said. “She works really, really hard and she treats people really, really well and that’s how McEntires do things.”
