Scout ranks Thomas the No. 2 running back in the Midwest and No. 256 prospect overall nationally.

He piled up more than 20 offers in the late winter and spring and narrowed his list to Wisconsin, USC, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Louisville, West Virginia and Alabama earlier this month.

Teammate Joseph Scates, a four-star receiver at Dunbar, is also a highly regarded prospect.

His most recent list of leaders consisted of Rutgers, Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Louisville, West Virginia and Alabama.
