Recruiting: Springfield’s Isaiah Gibson down to final 5 schools

Isaiah Gibson celebrated the birthday of the United States by eliminating a few schools from his recruitment.

The highly recruited defensive tackle prospect from Springfield is down to Kentucky, Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota and Michigan State.

Gibson, who plans to announce his commitment Sept. 19, previously was also considering Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Maryland and Rutgers in a top 10 released in early June.

He is the No. 12 player in the area according to the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 51 defensive tackle in the country.

Gibson had 22 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and forced two fumbles last season for the Wildcats.

Teammate Moses Douglass (Kentucky) is among the are players who have verbally committed from the class of 2019, while former teammate Danny Davis is a sophomore receiver at Wisconsin.

Wildcats RaHeim Moss and Michael Brown-Stephens are also three-star prospects in the state's top 100.
