Reds taking ‘wait and see’ approach to MLB winter meetings

Dec 08, 2017

The Cincinnati Reds hot stove is cold as of now, and probably will be through the winter meetings.

Reds general manager Dick Williams said he has a plan, but the team may not make a move.

“We have a plan ... but we don’t plan on doing anything in particular,” Williams told MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon.

Cincinnati’s plan will be to wait through the winter meetings and watch the market play out pick and then sign players to more manageable deals as the spring training comes along.

Sheldon wrote the only potential contract they would unload is Devin Mesoraco, who will make $13.1 million on the last year of his contract.
