The Cincinnati Reds hit their ninth grand slam of the 2018 season Sunday, tying the single-season club record in the 84th game.

Jose Peraza’s first career grand slam — and his third home run in his last five games —gave the Reds an 8-0 lead in the sixth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers in the series finale at Great American Ball Park.

The Reds also hit nine grand slams in 2002. Seven players hit those grand slams: Adam Dunn; Reggie Taylor; Austin Kearns; Todd Walker (2); Jason LaRue (2); Jose Guillen; and Kelly Stinnett.

With nine this season, the Reds lead baseball in grand slam. They tied the franchise record with five in June.

This was the Reds’ sixth grand slam in the last 17 games and their second of the weekend. Michael Lorenzen hit one Saturday.

The grand slams this season have been hit by eight players: Adam Duvall (2); Scooter Gennett; Eugenio Suárez; Joey Votto; Jesse Winker; Anthony DeSclafani; Lorenzen; and Peraza.
