Jake Whisman’s bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the eighth inning helped Centerville pull off a thrilling 7-5 win over Vandalia in baseball action Thursday.
Alex Firsdon notched the save and Tyler Rahe the win in relief for Centerville. Jared Lieberman added a 3-for-3 night at the plate.
Damon Dues paced Vandalia, the No. 3 ranked team in the state, with three basehits.
Centerville improved to 9-5; Vandalia fell to 15-2.
Lebanon 8, West Carrollton 7: Nick Taylor hit a game-tying single and Conor Schmitt followed up with a walk-off hit to help Lebanon get its 13th consecutive win. Taylor tallied three hits and A.J. Fritz added two to lead Lebanon offensively. Noah Martin and Josh Knox both doubled and Austin Tipton drove in three runs for West Carrollton.
West Liberty-Salem 6, Jackson Center 0: Ben Hyland punched out eight while taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning for West Liberty-Salem. Cayden Whitman provided some offense with a two-run double and a RBI single.
Miami East 10, National Trail 0: Peyton Lane and Isaac Plankenhorn collected hits but Trail couldn’t get the offense started against East.
St. Henry 10, New Knoxville 0: Matt Siefring tossed a no-hitter, striking out six over five innings for St. Henry. Parker Link, Conner Bruggeman and Nate Lefeld each had a pair of hits.
Anna 10, Fort Loramie 1: Colin Wuebker scored three runs and Seth Stiefel and Nathan Frilling plated three runs apiece to lead Anna. Tyler Siegel was 2-for-3 with a double for Loramie.
Riverside 15, Hardin Northern 1: Hunter Kreglow hit two home runs, including a grand slam, driving in seven in an impressive performance for Riverside.
Ben Logan 15, Urbana 1: Jazmine McKeen homered and drove in four, Tahlsa Bowshier homered and brought in two and Darian Rockhold earned the win on the mound to lead Ben Logan.
Covington 13, Tri-County North 2: Justice Warner went 4-for-4 and Lexie Long doubled twice to lead Covington. Riley Cruse had a home run for TCN.
National Trail 13, Miami East 2: Kerestin Nugent went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Davlyn Werner was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBI and Elizabeth Glander struck out eight while earning the win on the mound for Trail.
Trotwood-Madison 3, West Carrollton 0: In a rain-shortened match, Kobe Vinegar and Mouhamadou Seck picked up singles wins for Trotwood.
Greenville 4, Vandalia 0: Craig Manges and Branson Leigeber tallied singles wins for Greenville. Noah Haupt and Brandon Kreger were in the third set in the first singles match when rain interrupted play.
Waynesville 4, Preble Shawnee 1: James Schneider and David Muth both grabbed singles wins for Waynesville. Preble’s Pierce Elliot defeated Gehrig Habermehl in first singles.
Edgewood 3, Little Miami 2: Trey Moore and David Winter both notched singles wins for Edgewood.
