HS Roundup 9/12: Eaton volleyball prevails in battle of unbeatens

In a clash of undefeated area girls volleyball teams on Thursday, Eaton emerged unscathed.

Eaton edged Brookville by scores of 26-24, 25-19 and 26-24 to improve to 11-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

Carsyn Lammers scored 21 assists, Shaylen Perry 18 kills and Olivia Baumann nine kills with nine digs for Eaton.

Brookville fell to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

Boys Soccer

Bethel 4, Newton 1: Hunter Parrish drove in three goals, including two headers in the first two minutes. Nick Schmidt added a goal and an assist and Aiden Flomerfelt two assists for Bethel. Dillon Koble scored the lone Newton goal.

Monroe 8, Franklin 0: Zach Hamdan turned in three goals and Ben Griffis and Seth Wolfenbarger added two apiece to help Monroe improve to 7-0-1. Keeper Adam Duff recorded the shutout with five saves.

Girls Soccer

Catholic Central 5, Greenon 4: Lizzie Bruce finished with three goals and Caitlin Foley drove in the final goal for Catholic Central. Rhiannon Thomas scored one goal with one assist for Greenon.

Fairbanks 1, Mechanicsburg 0: Fairbanks broke the scoreless tie on a free kick with six minutes to play.

Greeneview 8, Southeastern 0: Faith Rutheford and Josie Faris netted two goals apiece and Ellie Snyder added one goal with two assists to help Greeneview improve to 8-1.

Twin Valley South 4, Tri-County North 0: Makiah Newport accounted for all four of Twin Valley South’s goals.

West Liberty-Salem 7, Northeastern 0: Emily Hollar and Rachel Davis struck with a pair of goals apiece and keepers Delaney Wade and Amanda Domachowski split on the shutout for WLS.

Boys Golf

Shelby County Athletic League Championship: Zach Pleiman was the medalist at 72 and Adam Ballas tied for runner-up at 74 to lead unbeaten Fort Loramie to victory in the tournament at Stillwater Valley. Bryce Cobb of Anna, which finished second, also shot a 74. Alex Bajwa of Botkins also recorded a hole-in-one on the fifth hole.

Ansonia 196, Covington 209: Johnnie Bozarth and Dalton Drees each carded a 48 for Ansonia, which shot a season-low by six strokes.

Coldwater 173, New Bremen 201: Carson Muhlenkamp carded a 41 and Nathan Kaiser a 43 to lead Coldwater.

Graham 167, Ben Logan 181: Undefeated Graham pulled away from a close match in the last two holes. Ethan Ricketts turned in a 41 to lead Ben Logan.

Marion Local 197, New Knoxville 216: Trent Lehman posted a 49 in the loss for New Knoxville.

Girls Golf

Coldwater 204, New Bremen 216: Emma Eckstein recorded a 44 and Laney Finke a 52 to lead Coldwater.

Lima Central Catholic 172, Ben Logan 181: Mailiis Simovart shot a 42 and Sydney Wesson a 44 in the loss for Ben Logan.

Girls Tennis

Chaminade Julienne 5, Badin 0: Caroline Hinshaw and Patty Estrada-Sanchez won their singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0 to highlight the CJ win.

Lakota East 5, Middletown 0: Megan Hoke, Ellie Leisten and Nisso Sacha swept the singles matches to lead Lakota East.

Milton-Union 5, Northridge 0: Meredith Fitch and Taylor Falb scored singles wins and the doubles duo of Amelia Black/Madison Silveira won in first doubles for Milton-Union.

Northwestern 4, Tecumseh 1: Leah Fraker, Kate Pederson and Macy Yeager led Northwestern with singles wins.

Girls Volleyball

Coldwater 3, Minster 0: Katie Alig totaled 15 digs, Lauren Gilliland 18 kills and Annelise Harlamert 32 assists for Coldwater.

Fairborn 3, Xenia 0: Hani Sampson finished with 11 kills, Katelyn Knapp 19 assists with 15 digs and Sam Hart 14 digs with three aces to lead Fairborn.

Greeneview 3, West Jefferson 0: Madyson Brittingham led Greeneview with 10 kills, Sadie Trisel had 17 assists with six kills and Kimmy Robinette turned in a solid defensive performance.

Mechanicsburg 3, Greenon 1: Ava Mayo recorded 20 kills with 14 digs, Mallory Blakeman 28 digs with three aces and Audrey Ayars 41 assists for ‘Burg. Kia Bull led Greenon with four aces and 13 digs and Katie Pry added 11 kills with 17 digs.

National Trail 3, Bradford 0: Madison Hathaway recorded 24 digs, Tristan Bowers tacked on 14 digs with nine kills and Brooke Johnson 13 assists to pace National Trail.

New Knoxville 3, Versailles 1: Carly Fledderjohann put up 32 assists with eight digs, Ellie Gabel added 16 kills with six digs and Morgan Leffel 13 digs for New Knoxville.

Tippecanoe 187, Sidney 221: Eve Schwepe carded a career-low 53 and Lily Blosser tied her career-best 56 in a losing effort for Sidney.

Tippecanoe 3, Butler 0: Rachel Wildermuth led the way for unbeaten Tippecanoe with seven kills, three blocks, three aces and 16 assists. Corrin Siefring tacked on 12 kills and Abby Hughes 12 digs.

Urbana 3, Northwestern 0: Emily Skelley tallied 18 kills with five aces and eight digs to lead the way for Urbana. Camille McIntosh added 12 kills and Maleah Murphy 13 digs.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Southeastern 0: Alex Burton chipped in 16 kills with 11 digs, Michele Smith five kills with 11 digs and Gabby Williams nine digs and 22 assists for WLS.
