High School Roundup for April 22: Hoffman pitches back-to-back perfect games for Elks

Centerville hurler Nick Hoffman, a Clemson baseball recruit, threw a second consecutive perfect game in Centerville’s 10-0 win versus Springfield on Monday.

Hoffman had thrown a perfect game at the Prep Baseball Report Midwest Select last weekend. It’s the first time in Centerville history that a pitcher has gone back-to-back with perfect games.

Centerville improved to 7-0 in conference play and is 12-5 overall.

Baseball

Anna 8, Fairlawn 1: Kyle Evans, Carter Elliott and Tyler McClay each tallied three hits to lead the Anna offense. McClay added three RBI, Elliott drove in two runs and scored two himself and Evans had a double.

Ben Logan 11, Graham 6: Garrett Dixon, Tanner Perkins, Trace Tevis and Blake Peterson each had multiple hits, with Dixon finishing 4-for-5 and Peterson picking up the win on the mound, to pace Ben Logan.

Dayton Christian 8, Lehman Catholic 5: Justin Dillhoff collected the win after striking out nine in five innings and give up one unearned run for DC. Seth Griswold picked up the save after getting out of a bases-loaded jam.

Kenton Ridge 7, Bellefontaine 0: Calvin Dibert and Luke Haerr combined on a three-hit shutout to help Kenton Ridge win a sixth consecutive game. Dibert added two doubles and Chris Lyle had two hits with two RBI.

Mason 3, Fairfield 1: Mason scored two runs in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie. Logan Murphy scored the lone run for Fairfield and Aidan Post struck out eight in the hard-luck loss.

New Bremen 15, St. Marys 6: Justin Tenkman drove in three runs and Mitchell Hays, Grant Selby and Tyler Overman each had two RBI apiece for New Bremen, which scored nine runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

Northeastern 10, Catholic Central 0: Mac Davis and Preston Nave combined on a no-hit shutout, Grant Hodson tallied three hits with three RBI and Chase Reed drove in a pair of runs to lead Northeastern.

Springboro 7, Northmont 1: Logan Zier swatted a home run, Tyler Kean and Jake D’Amico each had doubles and Austin Fawley earned the win on the mound for ‘Boro. Reagan Schommer, Brenden Siehl and Ed Hardaway each had two hits for Northmont.

St. Henry 5, Celina 2: Jackson Heath struck out six over five innings to record the win and Marc Siefring tallied the save for St. Henry. Sam Lefeld and Andrew Lange each tallied a double.

Tecumseh 3, London 2: Seth Hale scored the winning run for Tecumseh in the bottom of the seventh on a throwing error. Gavin Wasson was 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBI along with picking up the win in relief.

Softball

Badin 17, Carroll 0: Emma Kent led the way for Badin, striking out 13 in five shutout innings and hitting two home runs to help her cause. Sara Fields finished 4-for-4 with a double, triple and six RBI and Caitlyn Smith was 3-for-3 with one RBI. Ellie Tristy had the lone hit for Carroll.

Bellefontaine 7, Kenton Ridge 6: Caitlyn Shumaker knocked out a home run, Kaylee Foreman doubled and Tayteum Vigansky recorded the win for Bellefontaine. Bree Trainer tallied four hits with two RBI for Kenton Ridge.

Ben Logan 7, Graham 1: Grace Deardurff struck out eight in a winning effort in the circle along with driving in four runs to help her cause. Haley Wilson and Jenn Naragon added doubles with Naragon scoring two runs.

Fenwick 17, Roger Bacon 0: Haylee Hook struck out 13 over five shutout innings, Abby Gustely homered, Annabelle Thomas and Rachel Berling tallied three hits apiece and Leah Hemmingsen drove in three runs for Fenwick.

Mechanicsburg 24, Cedarville 0: Hanna DeLong and Daytaviah Rodgers each smacked a home run for ‘Burg. Rodgers also had two doubles with three runs scored and four RBI.

Monroe 2, Eaton 0: Alyssa Wagner outdueled Annika Gels in the circle to improve to 11-0. Wagner struck out 16 and Erin Dyke hit a home run. Claire Sorrell doubled for Eaton.

Southeastern 4, Triad 3: Southeastern scored a run in the top of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie. Kristin Bailey and Holly Alvoid each tallied two hits for Triad.

West Liberty-Salem 10, Greenon 0: Kelsey Day hit a pair of doubles and drove in three and Hannah Riblet and Julia Ames each tallied three hits for WLS. Sydney Wells doubled for Greenon.

Boys Tennis

Beavercreek 5, Troy 0: Austin Staiger, Heidi Orloff and Kyle Eskew swept the singles matches to help ‘Creek improve to 13-2.

Dixie 5, Franklin 0: Steven Brock and Alex Perminov picked up singles wins to lead Dixie.

Tecumseh 3, Kenton Ridge 2: Jacob Lewis and Parker Randenburg won in first and second singles, respectively, for Tecumseh. Arnie Scarberry took the third singles match for KR.

Girls Lacrosse

Miamisburg 13, CHCA 11: Emma Wyss recorded five goals on eight shots, Alaina Wells added three goals and Madelyn Noll and Isabella Whitt had two apiece to pace ‘Burg.
