Tyler Kean struck out 12 over five shutout innings along with knocking out a home run to spur Springboro to a 12-0 win versus Piqua in Division I sectional tournament action on Thursday.
Kean finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.
Calvin Walters added two RBI and Jake D’Amico and Ben Barber scored three runs apiece.
Springboro advances to face Carroll on Tuesday at Fairborn in a district semifinal. Carroll beat Beavercreek 5-3 on Thursday.
Bellbrook 6, Alter 0: Jayden Elliott pitched a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts to lead Bellbrook.
Carroll 5, Beavercreek 3: Trent Randall had a run-scoring double and also singled in a pair of runs to lead Carroll. Mat McMahan picked up the win on the mound and Steven Chapman nailed down the save. Austin Schroeder tallied two hits for ‘Creek.
Centerville 13, Stebbins 4: Jared Lieberman picked up the win after three innings of work and Ethan Muckerheide led the way at the plate with four hits for Centerville, which moved on to the district tournament.
Kenton Ridge 8, Springfield Shawnee 1: Calvin Dibert scattered five hits in a complete game, Alex Ward was 3-for-3 with two doubles and Garret Kelly added a bases-clearing triple for Kenton Ridge. Connor Lyons collected two hits for Shawnee.
New Bremen 3, Marion Local 0: Spencer Alig tossed a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and Ryan Bertke drove in a run to pace New Bremen. Timothy Knapschaefer hit a double for Marion Local.
St. Henry 8, Parkway 1: Rylee Deitsch blasted a grand slam at the plate and added a dominant performance on the mound to to lead St. Henry. Sam Lefeld tacked on a triple and Ethan Thieman was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Minster 11, New Bremen 1: Jenna Poeppelman struck out nine to earn the win and help propel Minster to the regional tournament.
Beavercreek 3, Alter 0: ‘Creek closed the regular season in winning fashion. Simon Ricks recorded 11 kills, Jarrod Brown 30 assists, Naumaan Hussain eight digs and Grant Fullenkamp two blocks.
Carroll 3, Roger Bacon 1: John Brun put up 22 kills, Max Herrmann added 11 kills with 12 digs and Kevin Brun 18 assists with 19 digs for Carroll.
Hamilton 3, Edgewood 0: Griffin Smith tallied 11 kills and Drew Vallandingham added six kills in the loss for Edgewood.
