High School Roundup for Tuesday, May 21

Kenton Ridge rallied from a five-run deficit to beat Northwestern 6-5 in a Division II district semifinal on Tuesday.

Urbana University commit Chris Lyle tallied two hits, notched the win in relief and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning after an Andrew Sharp infield single.

Calvin Dibert and Alex Ward each added a double for Kenton Ridge.

Ben Van Noord hit two doubles for Northwestern.

Baseball

District Tournament

Butler 4, Troy 2: Cooper Harestad smacked a double and drove in one run, Cam Miller went 2-for-3 and Zach Fults and Boston Smith each had one RBI to help Butler move on to a district championship. Cody Borchers picked up the win and Miller nailed down the save.

Centerville 4, Miamisburg 0: Nick Hoffman fired off a complete-game two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and Shea Henderson tallied three hits to lead Centerville.

Lehman Catholic 1, Mechanicsburg 1: This district semifinal was suspended due to darkness in the 12th inning.

Springboro 12, Carroll 2: ‘Boro jumped ahead early with six runs in the first inning. Logan Zier plated three runs off of two hits with two runs scored and Adam Berry, Cameron Snurr and Brock Bernard added two RBI apiece. Mitch Applegate and Martin O’Grady each had one RBI for Carroll.

Cross County Conference All-Conference Teams: National Trail’s Cameron Harrison was tabbed as the player of the year and Tyler Luce the coach of the year. Teammates Travis Hunt, Austin Knapp and Peyton Lane joined Harrison on the first team.

Softball

Cross County Conference All-Conference Teams: Kaylee Wilcox of Arcanum was tabbed as the player of the year and Arcanum’s Rick Stone and National Trail’s Derek Lee split coach of the year honors. Sidney Artz of Arcanum was picked for the first team along with National Trail’s Bobbi Grimes and Skyler Ward.
