HS Roundup 10/3: Madison, Troy Christian win in Thursday football

Football

Madison 48, Dixie 6: Logan Gibson tallied three touchdowns and Brayden Williams added a kickoff return for a score as Madison cruised to a victory. Dustin Simon scored the lone TD for Dixie.

Troy Christian 26, Ponitz 12: Ethan Twiss scored three rushing touchdowns and Charlie Knostman put the game away with a 27-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for Troy Christian. Twiss scored twice to spot Troy Christian an early lead, but Ponitz rallied with scores from Shavonte McGriff and Vahsaan Ward to pull within two at the half.

Boys Golf

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Division II at Beavercreek: Oakwood shot a 321 to beat Indian Hill by three strokes and earn a district title in the process. Tom McCarthy and Rylan Quigley each had a 78 for Oakwood. Alter also qualified, led by Tommy Grawe’s 77. Mason Witt of Greeneview was the medalist at 73 to advance individually.

Division III at Stone Ridge: Minster placed second to move on to the state tournament. Grant Koenig led the way with a 76, finishing as runner-up. Joseph Magoto added an 84 and Grant Voisard an 85.

Boys Soccer

Bellbrook 10, Franklin 0: Trace Terry totaled three goals with three assists to lead the way for Bellbrook and Bryce Ferrin added one goal with five assists.

Bethel 8, Franklin Monroe 1: Nick Schmidt netted four goals, Cannon Dakin had three goals and Jace Houck and Aiden Flomerfelt three assists apiece to help Bethel move to 12-2.

Jackson Center 4, Temple Christian 1: Landon Martin led Jackson Center with three goals and Bryce Carter tacked on the fourth.

Lakota West 2, Fairfield 0: Hunter Little put Lakota West on the board and Vinny Brown scored late for his first varsity goal.

Monroe 5, Valley View 0: Ben Griffis chipped in three goals and Zachary Hamdan added one score with two assists to help Monroe move to 13-0-2.

Talawanda 1, Edgewood 0: Zeke Nates scored the lone goal for Talawanda.

Girls Soccer

Catholic Central 3, Greeneview 0: Bridget Engel tallied a goal and an assist and Caitlin Foley and Lizzie Bruce added one goal apiece for Catholic Central.

Coldwater 6, Crestview 1: Ava Giere tallied three goals to lead Coldwater.

Hamilton 3, Colerain 1: Lilly Arvin, Carmella Montgomery and Meghan Garry each scored a goal for Hamilton.

Mechanicsburg 5, Northeastern 1: Kasey Schipfer chalked up two goals with two assists and Maggie Blanton added one goal and one assist for ‘Burg.

Talawanda 1, Edgewood 0: Kenzie Hanson scored off a Sophie Pohlabel assist with 12 seconds to play to give Talawanda the win.

Twin Valley South 7, National Trail 0: TVS earned its sixth shutout and eighth consecutive win.

Girls Volleyball

Eaton 3, Oakwood 1: Shaylen Perry scored 17 kills, Libby Giffen 12 kills with 10 digs and Claire Sorrell 14 digs with three aces for Eaton, which clinched the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwest title.

Fairmont 3, Beavercreek 0: Maddie Reents recorded 18 assists with three kills, Taylor Hilty added 15 digs and Iris Riegel eight kills to lead Fairmont.

Fort Loramie 3, Anna 0: Maya Maurer notched her 1,000th career assist in the win for Fort Loramie.

Greeneview 3, Greenon 0: Katie Pry put up 16 kills with 10 digs and McKenna Young tacked on 31 assists in the loss for Greenon.

Greenville 3, Piqua 0: Abbie Yoder set a Greenville record for blocks in a season midway through the first set.
