HS Roundup 8/22: Strong second half carries Centerville in win

The Centerville girls soccer team pulled away with six unanswered goals in the second half for an 8-2 win versus Miamisburg on Wednesday.

Chloe Spitler led the way with three goals and Alexis Hutchison added two more for Centerville. Sidney Kemp, Lauren Bastian and Grace Nation also had a goal apiece.

Anderson 5, Badin 4: Jada Pohlen, Macy Harper, Grace Harris and Sophie Blasi each had a goal but Badin’s rally fell short.

Beavercreek 3, Lebanon 0: Cecilia Scott, Cassie Rodriguez and Ella Bianco each tallied a score for ‘Creek.

Butler 1, Fairborn 0: Butler drove in a penalty kick with 6:25 to play to earn the victory.

Ross 1, Mariemont 1: Ross scored the equalizer with two minutes to play to salvage a tie.

Sidney 11, West Carrollton 0: Elaine Wiesenmayer netted 4 goals, tying a school record at 68 for her career.

Tippecanoe 5, Xenia 1: Jackie Bashore knocked in two goals to pace Tippecanoe.

Girls Tennis

Badin 5, Talawanda 0: Macy Sabourin, Josie Miller and Carly Fields each notched a singles win for Badin.

Franklin 3, Northridge 2: The doubles duos of Charlie Fuduloff/Breanna Adkins and Hayle Cornett/Destiny Glenn earned victories for Northridge but Franklin swept the singles matches for the win.

Middletown 5, Madison 0: Arianna Layne and Izzy Fonseca led the way for Middletown with 6-0, 6-0 singles victories.

Tecumseh 3, Springfield 2: Ashley Fite and Kayla Wright tallied singles wins for Tecumseh. Emily Hasecke won in second singles for Springfield.

Tippecanoe 3, Milton-Union 2: Dakota Schroeder won in second singles and Tippecanoe swept the doubles matches for the victory. Meredith Finch and Hannah Fugate had singles wins for MU.

Alter 184, Fenwick 188: Natalie Bierlein shot a 44 to lead Alter. Fenwick’s Megan Utterdyke was the medalist with 41.

Ben Logan 201, Indian Lake 260: Mailiis Simovart picked up medalist honors at 42 and Sydney Wesson fired a 45 for Ben Logan.

National Trail 192, Miami East 199: Makenna Jones posted a 40 and Savanna Abner a 47 to lead National Trail.

Oakwood 201, Carroll 212: Lauren Hapgood recorded a 42 to lead Oakwood.

Spg. Shawnee 207, Jonathan Alder 224: Isabella DeMayo paced Shawnee with a 42.

St. Henry 196, Celina 229: Ellen Naumann led the field for St. Henry with a 39. Kendra Marsee paced Celina with a 49.

Talawanda 232, Taylor 237, Little Miami 247: Grace Clausen earned medalist honors along with sinking the second birdie in school history for Talawanda.

Boys Golf

Carroll 165, Springfield 182: Tyler Goecke finished with a 36 for Carroll. Josh VanderHeide carded a 38 for Springfield.

Coldwater 202, Delphos SJ’s 223: Lexi Wright recorded a 48 and Sarah Diller a 49 to carry Coldwater. Paige Gaynier had a 50 for DSJ.

Kenton Ridge 170, Tecumseh 190: Drew Sarihan scored a 42 and Pierce Grimpe 46 in a losing effort for Tecumseh.

Madison Plains 173, Cedarville 180, Greeneview 181, Southeastern 232: Clay Grear of Madison Plains led the field with a 38. Greeneview’s Eli Beekman shot a 39 and Cedarville’s Adamn Wood had a 42.

Northmont 180, Brookville 186: David Richards carded a 42, Brady Hobert added 44 and Justus Thomas shot a career-best 46 for Northmont.

Urbana 193, Ben Logan 195: Ethan Ricketts and Garrett Allen each had a 44 for Ben Logan in a losing effort.

Girls Volleyball

Cedarville 3, Emmanuel Christian 1: Abigail Sheridan paced Cedarville with 18 kills and 12 digs, Elly Coe tacked on 30 assists and Eva Sheridan had 5 aces.

Fairmont 3, Carroll 0: Emmaline Meyer poured in 25 digs with 5 kills and Maddie Reents had 16 assists to lead Fairmont.

Urbana 3, Triad 1: Taylor Adams secured 30 assists with 4 aces, Maddy Johnson had 8 kills with 4 aces and Mackenzie Bean tallied 11 kills for Urbana.

Girls Field Hockey

Fairmont 0, St. Ursula 0: Rayne Liddy tallied four saves and Hana Tinch added a strong defensive performance for Fairmont.
