HS Roundup 12/14: Taylor Ewert finishes sixth in national race

Beavercreek High School senior Taylor Ewert placed sixth in the 41st Annual Foot Locker Cross Country National Championship at Balboa Park in San Diego on Saturday.

She covered the 3.1-mile, two-loop event in 17 minutes, 16.4 seconds and was part of the winning Midwest girls team. Ewert also ran in this race as a junior, placing fourth.

“It felt good,” said Ewert, who signed with the University of Arkansas last month. “I fought for every step. This means a lot. I got to talk to my college coach after the end and he’s really excited for the season next fall. There’s a lot of great things in the future I want to do.”

Ewert led Beavercreek to consecutive girls Division I cross country team titles in 2018-19 and was the individual winner both times. She also is the defending state 3,200 meters champion in track and field and is a national champion age-group race walker.

Zofia Dudek (16:45.0) of Ann Arbor Pioneer was the Foot Locker girls champion. Josh Methner (15:08.8) of Mount Prospect John Hersey (Ill.) was the boys champion.
