HS Roundup 12/30: Versailles wins battle of unbeatens

An overtime affair between undefeated foes saw a local player cross the thousand point mark.

Versailles defeated National Trail 63-60 in overtime Monday night. National Trail’s Cameron Harrison dropped 31 — most of which came in the second half — which pushed him past a thousand career points. His teammate Zach Woodall chipped in 18.

For Versailles, Michael Stammen led the way with 18. Connor VanSkyock followed with 15 and Kody Naftzger dropped in 14. The Tigers led most of the way, including by five after three quarters, and bounced back in overtime to claim the win.

Girls Basketball

Mercy McAuley 59, Lakota East 34: Sarah Sewek led East with 8 points on a night where the team struggled from the field. Alexandria Smith’s 18 paced Mercy McAuley.

Colerain 44, Mount Healthy 31: Abaigeal McNally’s 14 points lifted Colerain.

Hamilton 60, Ross 18: Journee Hicks hit 8 of 12 shots for 21 points and Anna Cardwell sank 8 free throws as Hamilton stormed past Ross.

Winton Woods 53, Middletown 48: Sa’Mill Calhoun’s 16 and Aryanna Ingram’s 11 helped keep the Middies in this tight affair Monday night. Leasiah Payne had 19 for Winton Woods; Daysia Thompson added 16.

Marion Local 50, Coldwater 38: The Flyers pulled away late to win the Celina Ovisco Classic. Lauren Gilliland led the Cavs with 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Kate Leichty scored 10, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Riley Rismiller had 4 points and 11 rebounds.

Legacy Christian 67, Yellow Springs 22: Kathleen Ahner dropped 25 for Legacy Christian.

Bellbrook 49, Kenton Ridge 22: The Eagles are now 10-2 after Bailey Zerby, Kendal Knisely and Brooklynn Hall all scored 8.

Boys Basketball

Hamilton 52, Lebanon 45: Strong performances in the second and third quarters lifted the Big Blue. Trey Robinson and Breeon Ismail both had 14 points. Nick Pierett added 16 points for Lebanon, ad Alex Martin dropped 12 and dished 7 assists.

Miamisburg 55, Xenia 43: Third consecutive win and eighth on the season for the Vikings. Corey Fries’ 17 points came mostly from outside the arc, as he drained five three-pointers. Evan Logan chipped in nine and Colin Murphy’s eight points proved critical in the second half.

Franklin 66, Preble Shawnee 46: Jordan Rogers had 23 for the Wildcats.
