Second Thoughts: Flyers need all hands on deck to keep winning

Knucklehead of the Week

Reds prospect Tanner Rahier is facing aggravated assault charges after an incident last week in suburban Phoenix. Rahier was drunk at a pizza parlor and refused to pay his tab, according to Glendale police. His girlfriend argued with him outside the establishment and Rahier allegedly threw rocks at her. One strike knocked her unconscious. Rahier, who spent the past two seasons with the Dragons, is on unpaid leave. Considering he has a career batting average of .223, I’m guessing he’ll be “unpaid” for quite some time.

The vehicles are washed and vacuumed, but there’s one thing left on my weekend to-do list. Jake’s baseball uniform includes one of those awful flat-bill hats. That thing needs a bend. Either that or I’m going to spend the entire season shaking my old-school head.

So many questions to ponder about college basketball as we get ready for Selection Sunday.

How long will UD last in the NCAA tournament? Unless Dyshawn Pierre returns to form and Jordan Sibert’s wrist heals, 40 minutes. Kendall Pollard is fantastic, but he needs help.

How many Atlantic 10 teams will make the NCAA tournament field? Three. UD, VCU and Davidson.

Will Archie Miller and Shaka Smart return to UD and VCU next season? If you’re a UD fan, you want Indiana in the field of 68. I could see Miller in Bloomington if IU comes up with $11 million to buy out Tom Crean. My gut feeling about Smart is that he’s waiting for Coach K to retire at Duke.

What tourney team has the best nickname? Gotta be the North Florida Ospreys. The Atlantic Sun champions could be one of the 16 seeds coming to Dayton for the First Four. Sounds like a team we could get behind.

Will we have to find truTV this week? Yes, truTV will televise 15 tourney games. I’m not sure how to find it, but there’s time.

Is Joe Lunardi’s hair real? I have no idea.

Archie Miller on CBS Sports Network's "Inside College Basketball" show Wednesday. He looked quite small sitting next to Wally Szczerbiak. CBSSN shot a serious airball by including Devon Scott among its four revolving UD player bios on the screen. They obviously looked at the team stats and pulled up the top four scorers. The fact that Scott only played nine games this season should've been a tip-off.

Trending up: Mike Nugent, A.J. Hawk, Will Ferrell. The Bengals re-signed Nugent and signed Hawk, reuniting the former Buckeyes and Centerville Elks. Both have had great careers and likely will finish them in Cincinnati. Pretty ocol. Nugent made 15 of his last 16 field-goal attempts last season. Hawk has plenty left in the tank and should help at linebacker.

Trending down: Tim Finchem, De'Runnya Wilson, Oliver Purnell. Dustin Johnson is back, but PGA Tour commish Finchem won't discuss why one of the biggest stars in golf disappeared last fall. There were reports of failed drug tests. "We don't think the fans really want to know about most of the stuff we would be talking about," Finchem said. Huh?
