Softball hall inducts first class since ’95

Butler County Softball Hall of Fame inducts 35 at ceremony.

FAIRFIELD — Matt Arminio had plenty of memorable moments during his 20-year softball career. He cherished his experience on Sunday the most.

And his father would have been proud.

Arminio was inducted into the Butler County Softball Hall of Fame — along with 34 other persons and teams — during a ceremony at Tori’s Station in Fairfield.

“My dad was my hero,” Arminio said of his dad, Jim, a 1987 inductee. “I grew up watching fastpitch with him. We traveled all over the state. When he was coaching me, I had some of the best times ever.

“This truly means a tremendous amount to me,” Arminio added. “To me, Hall of Fame means family. Without family and support, I wouldn’t have been able to do this. Everything else just fell into place.”

Arminio was an assistant coach of the 1985 state champion Hamilton High School girls fastpitch softball team, which also was inducted.

This was the first hall of fame class inducted since 1995.

“There were and still are so many tremendous athletes in this area,” Arminio said.
