The Flyers beat VCU 106-79 on Jan. 12 at UD Arena and lost 88-84 in overtime in Richmond on Feb. 10. Dayton and VCU played in the A-10 championship game in 2015 with the Rams winning in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Dayton (14-16, 8-10) ended the regular-season with an 88-78 victory over George Washington on Saturday.

VCU (17-14, 9-9) beat Fordham 83-58. The Rams tied for fifth with Saint Louis, Richmond and George Mason.

The last time Dayton had the No. 9 seed in 2011, it advanced to the championship game before losing to Richmond. The No. 9 seed has defeated the No. 8 seed five years in a row.

Dayton had the No. 1 seed the last two years and lost in the quarterfinals in 2017 and the semifinals in 2016. Dayton has never won the A-10 tournament outside UD Arena. Its only championship came at home in 2003.
