Trotwood-Madison rolls into D-II boys state final

Trotwood-Madison defeated Byesville Meadowbrook 88-42 in a boys high school basketball Division II state semifinal at Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center on Friday.

The win launches Trotwood (26-3) into Saturday’s state final against the Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary vs. Lexington winner. That semi will be played at 2 p.m. Friday.

Akron SVSM is the defending D-II state champ and defeated Trotwood in the state semifinals last season.

Amari Davis led the Rams with 21 points. Myles Belyeu and Carl Blanton each added 18 points and Justin Stephens 12.

Early in the fourth quarter the game became the first in Ohio postseason history to have a running clock. This is the debut season for that new rule and only comes into play when a team is ahead by 35 points or more in the second half of a playoff game.

Trey Singleton led Meadowbrook (22-7) with 12 points.
