4 areas hit hard by Wednesday’s storm

Severe weather and storms pummeled the Miami Valley Wednesday, bringing damaging winds that uprooted trees, and caused widespread power outages.

Some areas were hit harder than others, and the National Weather Service after conducting storm damage surveys in Clark and Greene counties today confirmed a tornado touched down near Enon.

Here are four areas that were some of the worst affected by Wednesday’s storm.

Job and Family Services

Montgomery County Job and Family Services is unable to do any business involving family assistance, child support or job services today due to a flooding issue.

Kevin LaVoie, spokesperson for the Montgomery County JFS, said the key server room is flooded and servers had to be shut down.

Enon

National Weather Service confirmed today an EF0 tornado touched down near Enon in Clark County Wednesday.

According to the NWS, the enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into several categories. The Fujita Scape rates an EF0 tornados as having wind speeds between 65 to 85 mph.

Montgomery County Fairgrounds

The fairgrounds historic grandstand appeared to have a large chunk of the south facade torn from the building. Greg Wallace, the fairground’s executive director said damage assessments were still being completed.

Moraine home

A home on South Union Road in Moraine suffered extensive damage after a large tree fell on the house during Wednesday’s storms. The homeowner said he retreated to his basement with his dog, before a large tree fell on his home.
