Widespread dense fog returns tonight

Rain and fog will affect the region at times through Thursday as several weather systems move through the area.

A dense fog advisory will be in effect from 9 p.m. today through 1 p.m. Thursday, issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Visibility will be a quarter-mile or less, leading to hazardous driving conditions. Motorists should slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance from the vehicles ahead.

Fog will be widespread, mainly after 10 p.m. Otherwise, tonight will be cloudy with an overnight low around 44 degrees.

Thursday will have a high near 52 degrees and will be rainy, though showers mainly will be after 2 p.m.

Rain will continue will Thursday night before tapering off early overnight. It will be cloudy with a low around 43 degrees.

A break from the rain is expected Friday before the next chance for rain arrives this weekend.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 48 degrees. Skies remain mostly cloudy for Friday night, which will have an overnight low around 38 degrees.

Saturday will be cloudy with a high near 46 degrees. There is a chance of rain after 1 p.m., with rain likely Saturday night. The overnight low will be around 36 degrees.

There is a chance of rain before 1 p.m. Sunday. Otherwise, it will be cloudy with a high near 41 degrees.

The first part of the new workweek will be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
