Rain to start tonight; higher temps next week after wet weekend

After a frosty start, normal spring weather returned to the region today, which saw afternoon highs around 60 degrees.

It will be mostly cloudy tonight with an overnight low around 45 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Saturday will be rainy. There is a slight chance of showers before noon, then a chance of showers after 2 p.m., the NWS said. Otherwise, it will be cloudy with a high near 59 degrees. Rainfall between one-tenth and one-quarter inch is possible.

Rain chances are expected to drop Saturday in the evening, but a chance of showers remains overnight before 2 a.m. and a chance of drizzle between 2 and 3 a.m. with a low around 44 degrees. Rainfall of less than one-tenth inch is possible.

Skies will be mostly cloudy Sunday with a high near 61 degrees. Sunday night, skies will be mostly clear, with lows around 40 degrees.

The region will get much warmer next week, with temperatures expected to hit the 70s Monday and the mid-80s on Tuesday.
