Storms move out of area; Hazy overnight

There is a chance for severe storms this evening, with the primary threats of damaging winds and large hail.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Flood Advisories have all been canceled.

Trained weather spotters reported quarter-size hail (1-inch) at 7:23 p.m. near the intersection of Arnold and South Main streets in New Madison and at 7:55 p.m. in the West Manchester area.

Skies today were partly sunny with highs reaching 83 degrees in Dayton and Cincinnati and 85 in Columbus.

Showers and storms are likely before 10 p.m., but after midnight drops to a slight chance of showers and storms. Widespread haze is expected before midnight. Skies will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 63 degrees.

An air quality alert is in effect due to the Canadian wildfires. The air quality index is forecast at 101 on Tuesday for Dayton, which is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups such as seniors, children and people with cardiac and respiratory diseases. Tuesday’s alert is for Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties, issued by the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency.

Skies will be mostly sunny but possibly hazy on Tuesday with a high near 83 degrees.

Tuesday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 65 degrees. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3 a.m., then a chance of rain until 5 a.m. followed by a chance of showers and storms.

Wednesday starts with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then a chance of showers between 8 and 11 a.m. followed by a chance of showers and storms. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 84 degrees.

Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and storms. The overnight low will be around 68 degrees.

A chance of showers and storms returns Thursday, which otherwise will be partly sunny and warmer with a high near 87 degrees. The chance of showers and storms continues Thursday night into the overnight hours until about 2 a.m. Skies clear overnight, which will have a low around 65 degrees.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees.
