Snow squalls for Super Bowl Sunday; possible midweek storm

Scattered snow showers are expected throughout today with a possible storm incoming midweek. Warmer temperatures are also expected for later in the week.

Snow showers are expected to occur this afternoon and evening, bringing at least a half of an inch of snow, according to the National Weather Service. Snow squalls (heavy snow and winds) are potentially expected between 4 and 9 p.m., the NWS said in a Twitter post. Caution is urged for roadways as squalls could produce whiteout conditions and slick travel for the Tri-State area.

Increasing clouds will cover the sky today with a high temperature of 25 degrees. The chance of rain is 40%.

Snow showers will impact southeastern Wayne and Northeastern in East Central Indiana, Shelby, northwestern Preble, southern Darke, Northwestern Miami counties in West Central Ohio through 5:30 p.m., the NWS said.

A low of 10 degrees is expected. Tonight’s weather will be completely cloudy by early evening before slowly clearing as the night goes on. Light breezes are expected after midnight.

The chance of rain for today is 20% percent.

Monday will be mostly sunny and bright with cooler temperatures. Around 29 degrees will be the highest temperature.

Monday night is mostly clear with a low of 16 degrees.

Colder temperatures will be moving into the area on Monday, the NWS said.

Tuesday brings more sunshine and a gradual warm-up. The highest temperature is 45 degrees.

Tuesday night brings in a slightly more overcast evening with partly clouds and a low of 34 degrees.

Wednesday is warm, breezy and partly sunny. The highest temperature will be 60 degrees.

A strong weather storm is expected from Wednesday to Friday bringing rain and possible flooding concerns, according to the NWS. Strong and gusty winds are expected to be around 40 mph on Wednesday, followed by moderate to heavy precipitation Wednesday night to Thursday, the NWS also said.
