Winter Weather Advisory cancelled; drivers should watch for slick roads

Snow will slowly taper off. Gusty winds will develop and create some blowing and drifting of the snow. Total accumulations through Saturday morning will range from 2 to 4 inches with some isolated 5-inch amounts possible, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said. Temperatures will fall back into the middle teens by daybreak.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been cancelled for the entire area.

DETAILED FORECAST

Saturday: A few lingering snow showers or flurries will be possible in the morning with skies staying mostly cloudy. Gusty winds still may create some blowing and drifting of the snow. Temperatures will top out in the upper teens by late morning but then fall by late afternoon.

New Year's Eve: Temperatures will start Sunday near zero and only climb into the lower teens for highs with mostly cloudy skies. A few passing flurries are possible. Wind chill readings will likely range from minus 10 degrees to minus 15 degrees, and could dip colder after dark. Temperatures at midnight are expected to be in the lower single digits.

New Year's Day: Skies will be partly cloudy with temperatures starting the day from zero to minus 5 degrees, and highs reaching to near 10 degrees. Wind-chill readings will stay below zero.

Tuesday: Morning temperatures are expected to range from 5 to 10 below zero with highs for the day reaching into the middle teens. Skies will be mostly sunny.

Wednesday: Expect more clouds with a chance for a few passing snow showers or flurries late in the day. Highs will rebound into the upper teens.
