A woman suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning after she was hit by a semitrailer on U.S. 35 East in Beavercreek.

Police were dispatched around 8:10 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 35 over Interstate 675.

The driver lost control of the car for unknown reasons and hit guardrails on the north and south sides of U.S. 35, according to police. The woman then got out of the car from the passenger side.

She crossed the concrete barrier on U.S. 35 and was hit by an eastbound semitrailer.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.

She was cited with failure control and being a pedestrian on a highway, according to a crash report.

The incident temporarily closed U.S. 35 East at I-675 and also affected westbound lanes on U.S. 35. All lanes reopened by around 10:20 a.m., according to Beavercreek police.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Riverside police assisted crews at the scene.
