Thousands of avid runners participate in the Turkey Trot five mile run each year. The race, hosted by the Ohio River Road Runners Club and the City of Miamisburg, is entering into its 37th year on Thursday, Nov. 26!

Just in case you’re new to the Turkey Trot festivities, or needed a refresher as to why the event is more than worthwhile, Dayton.com found a few incentives that will get you gobblin', cluckin' and trottin' over to the intersection of Main Street and Linden Avenue on Thanksgiving Day.

  • 1. Think about the calories you’ll burn

The race begins at the intersection of Main Street and Linden Avenue and finishes in Riverfront Park. It’s a one course loop boasting one intense uphill section. In total the race is five miles, and if you’re looking to make a little room for that yummy turkey later on in the day, this workout will do the job. It’s also probably a good idea to do this because some estimates of calorie consumption on Turkey Day ring in as high as 4,500 calories.
