That would be one week after the Iowa Caucus on January 3, and it would set up a first month with four key states:
- January 3 - Iowa
- January 10- New Hampshire
- January 21- South Carolina
- January 31- Florida In other words, the GOP candidates have just over two months to get ready for the rock 'em sock 'em of Iowa and New Hampshire. And if you are really watching the calendar, the November elections of 2012 are just over a year away, November 6, 2012. "Americans aren't better off than they were three or four years ago," argued Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, hammering home economic themes. "Everybody knows that the Obama experiment has failed," Priebus said. "The table is set for the Republican nominee," said top RNC strategist Rick Wiley. We'll have a front row seat to see what happens. Nine weeks from today we'll know the winner in Iowa; ten weeks for New Hampshire. And with Thanksgiving and Christmas in between, those first two states are much closer than you might think. Romney. Cain. Perry. Paul. Gingrich. Huntsman. Bachmann. Santorum. One of them will step it up more than the others over the next few months.
