While the debate rages on the floor of the U.S. Senate on this Saturday, crowds are gathering outside the Capitol to make their voices heard on the nomination of federal appeals court Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, as tourists to the nation's capital are getting an extra dose of civics around Capitol Hill, with the Senate ready to deliver a major political victory to President Donald Trump.

The Senate remained in session all night for speeches, and protesters also were around the Capitol through the night, as police set up barricades on the Senate side of the Capitol to keep the public away from the building - though hundreds broke through them at one point and occupied the main steps into the Capitol.

Demonstrators also gathered on the lawn in between the Capitol and the Supreme Court, and across the street by the Supreme Court building as well.
